A place to build
before the workshop.

MotorWorks brings engine configuration, vehicle studies and simulated driving into a developing automotive environment. The goal is to explore a design, understand a change and carry better questions into a physical build.

The working idea

Change a build.
Follow it onto the road.

The current development work connects the Build Studio to simulated driving and saved builds. Configure an engine, install the setup, return to it and compare what happens in the driving environment.

Rust supports the simulation systems; Unreal Engine provides the interactive world. Engine outputs are model estimates. Learning where those models need better data is part of the engineering.

The engineering spaces

From the garage
to the test environment.

Six spaces frame the larger project. The engine-build workflow has running evidence; the complete room set and its tools are still being developed.

Tracks & a home state

Known circuits.
A Michigan ambition.

Track development includes a Nordschleife reconstruction from public geographic data and a Laguna Seca environment. Both have packaged driving evidence. The Nordschleife geometry is not a laser scan; the environments and vehicle handling continue to evolve.

Beyond the circuits, we are building toward a Michigan-scale world: roads, places and journeys assembled from geographic data, expanded in stages. A statewide plan guides that work. A complete, fully playable Michigan is a future objective.

A lifelong automotive interest

A new set of tools.
The same reason to build.

Evan’s interest in cars goes back to childhood. Since December 2025, he has been exploring AI and USD technology to support design, simulation and the pace of development. MotorWorks is part of that broader effort.

The ambition reaches beyond a simulator: better engineering conversations, useful training for people working with robots, then physical prototypes and, eventually, consumer vehicles. Each step needs its own testing, resources and proof.

The development journal / YouTube

Show the work
as it takes shape.

We plan to share simulation sessions, engine-build comparisons, virtual engineering and the development of rooms, tracks and Michigan. As physical builds become possible, the story can follow them into the workshop.

A useful video should show what changed, the result and what we learned. Simulation footage, concept renders and physical testing will be identified for what they are.
